WHAT WE'RE LISTENING TO // Rainy Season Blues by Lobi Traoré

Malaian musician Lobi Traoré's last album Rainy Season Blues, beautiful and totally undubbed, is one of my absolute favorites. In his words: "When I was young, before I even knew I would become a musician, I listened to a lot of blues - John Lee Hooker and all that. Maybe I was inspired by it. Maybe the blues was inspired by Africa. Maybe it’s just a coincidence. But, listen - the music I play comes from me and from my place."
WHAT WE'RE SEEING // Salah Elmur at the Circle Art Agency
Sudanese artist Salah Elmur Elmur is a painter, filmmaker, photographer, illustrator and author of several children's books. Drawing on memories of photos from his grandfather's photography studio, his work is described as nostalgic and surrealistic.  Check out his work on exhibition now at Circle Art Agency, Nairobi!

WHAT WE'RE SEEING // Salah Elmur at the Circle Art Agency

Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover:) Such a fun read and something that I think each of us will relate to in some way, a big thanks goes out to Carole, who recommended this book to me a couple of weeks ago! Wahala is a Yoruba word meaning trouble, and in this new comedy-drama, trouble enters the lives of three female Anglo-Nigerian friends. Fun enough to be compared to Sex and the City but smart and incisive enough to garner a rave review by NPR, we think you'll really enjoy this one!
