These textiles are a part of our 100% Made in Kenya collection and were printed in Kenya on Kenyan grown cotton. The print was designed by Shadé Akanbi. Raised in the Bay Area, Shadé credits her Nigerian-American upbringing and extensive international travels as her main creative influences for designing. Now based in Brooklyn, Shadé is the Creative Director and Designer of Printed Pattern People and it's a true joy to be able to share her work with you!

I had been eying this dress for months, keeping the tab open in my browser and trying to convince myself that I could justify the cost of such a lovely piece (I'm Canadian, so the exchange rate makes the cost significantly more daunting). After some time, I just bought it... and a Surprise Me dress... and then I bought another dress and another Surprise Me dress. They are now in constant rotation in my wardrobe and make me feel so happy. The photos here are from last night, when I received a President's Award of Excellence from the university where I serve students as an accommodated exam specialist.

I love the Zuri project of Kenya grown, spun, woven, and printed fabrics with specially commissioned designs. The blend of peach and lavender in Alpenglow makes an enigmatic combination. I recently wore mine with a peach shirt on a chilly day.

I waited quite a bit before getting Alpenglow because I was concerned it wouldn’t be great with my skintone. However, I read a couple of online posts that mentioned how it was universally flattering. This couldn’t be more true. It’s the perfect shade of salmon pink, with lavender and a bronze that makes the pattern shimmer. The fabric is lightweight and feels like it will soften over time. It looks great by itself or over jeans as a layering piece. So glad I got it!

I wasn't sure the muted peachy colors were for me but WOW! The fabric is a little lighter. The dress flowed well all evening and of course I had to add my funky flair.
