Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. We're so proud to be working with Edwina and her cooperative of batik dyers in Accra, Ghana, to make these prints! Learn more about these fabrics here!
In order to create a batik fabric, recycled wax is melted and applied to the fabric using a stamped pattern. Edwina carves each stamped design herself in foam, which is easier to repurpose and work with than wood. Together with several women in Accra, Ghana, Edwina and her team always create designs that play on both pattern and layered color in a truly original way. Since we began working together in 2018, we've produced over 40 unique textiles together, keeping them in continuous production since we started. We're so honored to share this collaboration with Edwina and her team!

This pattern is more delicate than my other Zuris. The soft gray works with very faded denim, but the green is strong enough to play off deeper blues. Glad I was able to snag it when it reappeared on site.

Now one of my favorite Zuris, Time Flies is so fun to wear! At first I was cautious about adding bright colors to this greenish dress, but now I am branching out and adding bright blues and oranges. Perhaps chartreuse is the new neutral? Zuris are practically my "work uniform" because they're so comfortable, have pockets, and are easy to style (sneakers? flats? as a dress? as a jacket over black jeans?); and I always love traveling with them for their comfort, versatility, and the way they just add more fun to the travel experience. So glad I snatched one of these before they sold out in my size!

As soon as I saw a swatch of this pattern, I knew I’d snap it up asap! I love the chartreuse with the grey and white accents, especially with my post pandemic salt and pepper hair. I know there have been some irregularities in the batik print on the fabric and there were some on mine. However, I didn’t find them problematic and thought they added to the authenticity of the batik itself. It’s a perfect dress to go into spring and summer! (Plus my cat loves it…)
